James Stewart was named the first African American to be successful in the world of motocross and super cross.He was born in Bartow Florida in 1985 at the age of three his father introduced him in to the sport.He entered his first race when he was four.He won many amateur titles before he was even sixteen. In 2002 he became a pro motocross rider but crashes and rookie mistakes kept him from winning the 2002 125cc super cross title.But later on that year he became the AMA rookie of the year.He was also named one of the 20 teens who will change the world in 2003.Stewart went on to win the 2003 super cross title but a severe crash ended up making him drop out of the east/west motocross championships.
